Resiliency 2025 - A Way of Life

Lately, it feels like resilience isn’t something I rise to—it’s something I live in. When surviving becomes routine, it’s hard to pick just one story. But there was a moment when I first understood what that really meant, and it changed everything.

Absolutely—here’s a more emotionally resonant, blog-style rewrite that brings readers into your story, tugs at the heart, and captures the deep impact of that season while keeping the essence and intent intact:

January 12, 2002.
I was on maternity leave from active duty in the Air Force, curled up on the couch at my parents’ house, my newborn tucked gently in my arms. The house was still, quiet—just the soft breaths of my sleeping baby and the weight of a peaceful moment that felt like everything I’d ever dreamed of.

Then the phone rang.

It was my husband.
“Your boss called… you have orders.”
I smiled, responding, "You mean—we have orders?"
“No,” he said. “You have orders. To Osan. Unaccompanied.”

Time slowed. My heart stopped. And in that instant, the fragile snow globe of my new motherhood and quiet hopes cracked wide open.

There I was, holding my whole world in my arms—and it felt like the ground had vanished beneath my feet.

That moment was a decision point, and three options stood before me like mountains:

Flee – Disappear. Leave the country. Abandon everything. (Yes, I’m not proud of it, but I did consider it.)
Fight – Argue. Push back. Surely someone didn’t know the rules. I was a new mother—I shouldn’t have to leave.
Surrender – Nod. Accept it all without question. Just do what I was told.

For those of you who don’t know me yet, let me be clear: I don’t run, and I don’t go down without a fight when something matters. So, fight I did.

Long, complicated story made short: post-9/11 rule changes meant no exceptions. My report date was non-negotiable. And on May 5, 2002, I left for Korea. Five days later, my husband—recently recalled to active duty after separating in 1999—left for Spain. Our infant daughter was suddenly without both parents. And we were, quite literally, on opposite sides of the world.

I wouldn’t wish that year on anyone.
And yet—I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Because in that year, I found something I didn’t know I was missing. I found my faith anchoring me more than ever before. I found strength I didn’t know I had. And I found a version of myself that would walk away different—scarred, yes, but stronger.

From that storm, I gained:

🌟 Perspective – I learned how to shift my thinking, even when everything around me felt uncertain.
🌟 Emotional Intelligence – I stopped assuming, started listening, and recognized the unseen battles in everyone.
🌟 Adaptability – I stepped into leadership as a brand-new E-5 and somehow walked out as the 2002 7th Air Force NCO of the Year.
🌟 Self-Awareness – Still a work in progress, but I began advocating for my needs—because only I could truly name them.

Some seasons strip us down to the bone. But sometimes, it’s in the breaking that we’re rebuilt.

And that year? It rebuilt me.

Last month marked a powerful milestone in my journey—I officially stepped into the role of a leadership coach. And let me tell you, it's not just a title. It’s a calling. Coaching is about more than advice or accountability—it's about unlocking something already within you: the capacity to choose resilience, even when life feels anything but easy.

What I’ve discovered is this—resilience isn’t a trait you’re born with. It’s a daily decision, a mindset, and most importantly, a skill that can be cultivated with the right support. That’s where coaching comes in.

If you’ve ever felt stuck at a crossroads, unsure how to move forward, or simply craving clarity in the chaos, coaching can change the game. It’s a space to reflect, recalibrate, and rediscover the strength that’s been there all along.

Because the truth is, none of us are meant to do this alone. We all need someone in our corner—someone to challenge us, support us, and remind us of what’s possible.

So, if you’re ready to stop surviving and start leading your life with intention, I invite you to experience what coaching can truly do. Your next breakthrough might be just one conversation away.

Life

So much life goes by, it's amazing to find old relics like this blog.  When I look back upon some of the posts, I feel transported to a simpler life - a life I felt much more in control of - but that was only an illusion.

We have no control save reliance on our Savior.

I am so very thankful for the years that have passed, growth (both literal, figurative, spiritual, and physical...well, maybe not the weight gained!) has abounded, but we all know how growth happens: trials, events...change.

I pray you have been well, and that your journey with Christ has been strengthened over the last 12 years.

7 Days Left!!

In 7 days (8 if you count today...but who does that!?) we will close out yet another school year...wow, I cannot believe how quickly this time is slipping by!

When I reflect on the past year, it has been a crazy one, full of adventure, heart ache, love, disappointments, disillusionment, and joy.  Amazing how we - especially women - can fly through so many emotions, because some of those happened within hours of each other!

As we approach the summer of 2013, I am going to try my absolute best not to rush through life each day, but to take the time to reflect on what God is trying to show me in each moment.  There is a reason for it all, you know.  We aren't supposed to just sit here and make ourselves comfortable then perish.  He has a purpose for us all.  Eston, a boy we sponsor from Kenya, Africa told me that the other day in his letter to us.

He told me that he is looking forward to getting letters (either online or through the mail) from not only us, but the kids.  He is always  sharing his current memory verses with us, and it has been amazing over the last few years to see his growth.  Not only in schooling, but his writing to us and in his love for the Lord!

Oh, and with my memory verse...I am still working on it!  So far, here's where I am (consistently):

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.  I pray that the eyes of your heart would be opened so you may know what is the hope and calling of His will for your life, what is His incredible inheritance for those who love him.  To know His immeasurable greatness of His power; and the working of His vast strength.....
I know, I know...still a ways to go...and those middle and last parts are still not quite right.  I am striving for the understanding of these verses, not merely knowing the words.  As I process through learning a verse, the first thing I do is try to connect it with my heart.  Then the words begin to make more sense so that the understanding of it flows.

I pray you have a very blessed day!

A Challenge Evoked...

Last night at church we were going over Ephesians 1:15-19.  Pastor Troy had mentioned a few times the desire to memorize verses 17-19, and I had those very verses highlighted in my Bible, so, at the end of our meeting, I evoked a challenge... "I'll quiz you if you will quiz me Sunday".

Oh my!  Talk about a direct hit since then!  Today I have felt AWFUL!  Don't want the lights on, let alone to pick up something to read!  After laying around most of the day, however, the Lord has given me the precise amount of energy I need to pick up His Word and prepare for the challenge ahead.

I (pray) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. I (pray) that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength. Ephesians 1:17-19
Turn on the news and it is evident we are in a very trying time in our country...one that is becoming increasingly hostile to those of the faith.  That is going to prove to be very good...and very devastating.   It is when persecution comes that those with a true faith will chose to stand against the current, and those who are weak in the faith will waiver.

My challenge to you is to begin building your strength in Him, so when that time comes you will not be one who waivers.

If you see me, I ask for you to please quiz me on this verse...I desperately need to be praying it over my children, their friends, my neighbors, my family, my friends...please pray with me.

Over the next month I am also hoping to add a page to this blog that will highlight memory verses in video form.  One of the methods I use to memorize Scripture is to create movements for it and teach them to my children.  This has been very successful in the past, and I would love it if it is able to assist you in memorization as well.

In the mean time - have a blessed day!

Firsts and Lasts

This past week has been a crazy one-well I suppose anyone would say this life time frame is such. Six children, four of which are currently enrolled in school...and well...It’s SPRING!!  A great time of reflection of the past and new beginnings.  Softball/baseball/T-ball season has officially been kicked off and is in full swing around here…not to mention we have a Spring Soccer League this year as well – All 6 of my children are actively engaged in one sport or another:

(2) – 3/4 T-ball
(1) – 5/6 T-ball
(1) – 7-9 Softball
(1) 9-10 Baseball
(1) 10-11 Soccer
This is my youngest (3-year old) first year in rec ball, and likely my eldest (11-year old) last year.  Firsts and Lasts are so exciting….scary…yet weirdly common.  If you really think about it, how many first experiences do we have?  First steps, first tooth, first haircut, first day of school…for each grade, first date, first kiss, and the list goes on and on!  Then there are the lasts….the last day of school…for each grade, the last game, the last day of ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!  That last one is the fiercest for me that is quickly approaching.  My baby girl, growing up.

When those words slip from my lips, first...last, two similar words spring to my mind: Alpha...Omega.  He is not only the first and the last, He is the only thing in my life that is consistent.  There will never be an end with Him, only different seasons of my life, and differing degrees of my usefulness to Him.  Unfortunately, I am not consistent.  I would like to be - oh goodness would I like to be! But I am human; emotions and life circumstances take over at times and I look up to realize I have missed numerous opportunities to be His hands, feet, mouth, or ear.

During this Spring season, I am committing to reflect more on Christ with each first and last I cherish.  After all, it is only through His goodness that I am able to encounter those experiences.

Have a blessed day!

A Chapter to Ponder

At the height of discouragement, His Word is still the optimal place to turn:

Psalm 143
(HCSB Version)

Lord, hear my prayer.  In your faithfulness listen to my plea, and in Your righteousness answer me.  Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one alive is righteous in Your sight.

For the enemy has pursued me, crushing me to the ground, making me live in darkness like those long dead.  My spirit is weak within me; my heart is overcome with dismay.

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all You have done; I reflect on the work of Your hands.  I spread out my hands to You; I am like parched land before You. -Selah-

Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails.  Don't hide Your face from me,  or I will be like those going down to the Pit.  Let me experience Your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in You.  Reveal to me the way I should go, because I long for You.  Rescue me from my enemies Lord; I come to You for protection.  Teach me to do Your will, for you are my God.  May Your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.

Because of Your name, Yahweh, let me live.  In Your righteousness deliver me from trouble, and in Your faithful love destroy my enemies.  Wipe out all those who attack me, for I am Your servant.

Blogging - Balance

Hello!
It has certainly been awhile since my last blog...offering an apology would assume that some of you may have missed my blog postings...although that would be great, it is obvious that I have not ever been very consistent.  This is something I would like to change.

Over the course of this past year, since the passing of my Father-in-Law, I have struggled with what may be the reality of my impact on this world for Christ.  I have had frequent thoughts of posting, however, my reflection on our human tendency to be wavering individuals has stopped me.  What we deem important in February is barely a thought 2 months later - a personal principal we hold so strongly to in 2003, we realize in 2013 was stubborn, relative and naive.  So, where is the line?  Where is the balance between a strong conviction that is pure and loving and stubborn, selfish judgement?

I desperately desire to be like Jesus...a feat no one will reach on this side of eternity.  But as I continue to grow, just like a child, I must remember to make room for grace.  Grace for others and grace for myself.  As a child develops, understanding grows and this affects their behavior.  The same should be of me and other followers of Christ.  We can hold firm to our convictions, but do so with grace and love.

Last week, the kids and I were able to visit Missouri and Illinois, thus giving us the opportunity to visit our church we attended for nearly 6 years. (Sidebar: If you are in the area of St. Louis, MO, Victory Church in O'Fallon, IL is a wonderful church home!!)  They have recently started studying Grace: More than We Deserve, Greater than We Imagine by Max Lucado in their small groups.  Pastor Jon Cannon's sermon was over a portion of this and hit me square between the eyes.  Naturally, I bought the study guide so I could look over the questions that these small groups were being asked to ponder.  Then once in Missouri, I broke down and bought the book.  After reading the second page of the first chapter, this is what the Lord set before me:

You stare into the darkness.  Your husband slumbers next to you.  The ceiling fan whirls above you.  In fifteen minutes the alarm will sound, and the demands of the day will shoot you like a clown out of a cannon into a three-ring circus of meetings, bosses, and baseball practices.  For the millionth time you'll make breakfast, schedules, and payroll...but for the life of you, you can't make any sense of this thing called life.  Its beginnings and endings.  Cradles and cancers and cemeteries and questions.  The why of it all keeps you awake.  As he sleeps and the world waits, you stare. (p. 6)
If this sounds like you, I want to invite you along - go find Max Lucado's book Grace: More than We Deserve, Greater than We Imagine, I would love to hear about your journey as I embark on my own, but there are always times that we must remain silent as we forge ahead.  Please know either way, I will be in prayer for you.

Have a blessed journey!

Wisdom

"Wisdom calls out...
She takes her stand on top of the high hill
where the paths meet...
Listen to me...
Hear instruction and be wise
Do not ignore me...
Whomever finds me finds life and favor from the Lord,
All those who hate me love death"
Excerpts from Proverbs 8

We have all been at the cross-roads; sometimes the paths are marked clearer than others for which direction is the wise path and which is the obvious wrong path.  Reading a Proverb a day gives an opportunity to absorb some of God's wisdom, that He says has been around longer than the dust of the Earth.  His wisdom has existed as long as He has - forever.  Why, then, do we so often think we know better than Him?  Why do we assume a little trip down the wrong path will not entail the same consequences for us as it has for so many others?  There are times the outward appearance of that assumption is true, but that is never the case with a true Christ-follower.  The Lover of our soul loves us far too much to allow sin and wrong choices to not impact us; whether those consequences are external for others to see or internal shouldn't matter, we need to be obedient and return to Him.

Often there is one huge obstacle that must be moved from our way prior to that return - US!  Our pride is so thick sometimes that we cannot see God speaking to us.  Take David for instance, thankfully, his pride was dissolving as God sent Nathan to confront him about his sin.  What was David's initial response though?  PRIDE - 2 Samuel 12:5, "David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, 'As surely as the LORD lives, that man deserves to die!"  Can't you picture it?  David being upright and lauded all these years for his obedience and closeness with God, if anyone, he had the right to judge and condemn someone!  The problem is, just like David, the recipient of the hard to swallow confrontation, he had to then evaluate himself, just as Nathan had done prior to delivering this message from God.  Nathan was obedient, now it was time for David to chose once again which road to take, the wise one (humility)- repenting and deciding to grow closer in his relationship with the Lord once again, or the wrong one (pride)- defending himself, condemning Nathan for his audacity to approach him, killing and slandering him by spreading word of his audacity to approach the king.  I am so thankful David chose the wise, humble path, he heard the voice, obeyed, and found life and favor from the Lord once again.

What about you?  Just as a child grows into maturity, parents and other influences are strategically placed within their life to guide them, correct them at times, rebuke them at times, comfort them at times...and confront them at times.  Before lashing out in defensiveness and anger, take the information before God, He is the One who knows our heart inside and out and can perform the perfect evaluation.  Maybe 97% of what was said is off base, but there is 3% right on target, but you are too proud to accept.  Ask the Lord to reveal whatever percentage is true.  That goes along with compliments as well.  Unfortunately many people are quick to fill a person's sails with fluff.  Make sure it lines up with what God truly knows about you as well.  Lastly, if the approaching person is a Christian brother or sister in Christ, do your best to not backlash them.  They are your eternal sister or brother, if we are fighting or biting at one another, why would onlookers care to have this 'Christianity' that we have?  Every action matters, every word matters...I pray this was an encouragement to you today and that your day is a blessed one!

Growth

"Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature;

and in favor with God and all people"

Luke 2:52

Have you ever (or know anyone else who has ever) desired to change an aspect about themselves?  Whether to physically get in shape, learn something new like sewing, going back to school, learn more about the Bible, do or even attempt to complete a Bible study?

How many times have you attempted this and shortly after felt like a failure because you haven't succeeded in the manner you thought you should?  You start walking so you can lose weight, but you find yourself compensating by eating more, defeating yourself in the process; purchase a new sewing machine, thread, fabric, designs - then six months down the road when you see it sitting in the corner, you cringe at the thought of money wasted on the new dust catchers (unfortunately, these are personal examples!).

We have all been there! But there is one thing we need to keep hidden in our hearts - we are who God created us to be...and He loves us too much to leave us the same.  He desires for us to grow...in wisdom, stature, in favor with people, but most of all in favor with Him, just like His Son, Jesus did.

Stop beating yourself up, pick up His Word, immerse yourself in it daily, and continue to get back up!  Proverbs reminds us that although we will fall from time to time...we MUST get back up!

Proverbs 24:16
"Though a righteous man falls seven times,
 he rises again,
but, the wicked are brought down by calamity."

Have a blessed day!

Current Christian Behavior: Is it Christ-Like?

I am well aware this post will be very controversial, even among some strong Christian leaders; however, the Lord has not allowed my spirit to rest.  My duty is to obey, so please know that every word written is done so with humility and much prayer - for God to impart to every reader what He wills.

As I have been looking at the news feed on my Facebook page, my heart has been hurting over the consumption of hate and bickering going back and forth between Christians and non-Christians alike.  It all really starting snowballing after Chick-Fil-A's President responded to the public and confirmed his stance on gay marriage, and it has certainly spiraled since. ( Please allow me to pause to affirm and applaud Mr. Dan Cathy for remaining firm on his beliefs, and I will certainly continue eating there.) After seeing the "Left" calling for boycotts, I began noticing the uproar coming from the Christian community.

The Lord really began pricking my heart, and I didn't quite understand why; of course, as many know, our lack of understanding doesn't quiet the Lord's urging.  The response of the Christians continued to gnaw at me; comments about how ridiculous it was that people would boycott because of personal beliefs and the like reminded me of a time not very long ago when Christian leaders were urging believers to boycott other privately owned businesses because they gave money that supported anti-Christian values like planned parenthood.  If Christians call out for a boycott, why is it wrong when others call out for one for a company that supports the opposite of their striving? Why are we expecting the unbelieving world to behave and have the moral compass of a Christ-follower?  In the end, with both calling for a boycott, which one is representing Jesus...or is either?

If Jesus were walking among us, would He call for a boycott because the unsaved board of XYZ Company makes a decision to support and advocate for gay marriage or planned parenthood?  (Again, I am in no way, shape or form advocating these agendas, I am simply attempting to remove the Christian-culture glasses for you for a moment.)  In Jesus day, what would such a scenario as this look like?  If you immediately thought of Jesus throwing the vendors out of the temple (Matthew 21:12; John 2:14-16), I must disagree.  Look, instead, at Matthew 9:10, Mark 2:15, Luke 5:29 & 30...what do you see here?  Did Jesus boycott the tax collectors?  No.  He dined with them, He befriended them, built a relationship with them, and eventually saved them.

The current Christian behavior saddens me, and I am very often guilty of it as well.  Christ did not die for the sins of whole world so that we can live within a Christian bubble.  Think about it, who stepped out of their bubble to share Him with you?  If you still cannot see where I am coming from, I will give you a very practical and local example.  When is the last time your church threw a baby shower for a non-member; that is virtually unheard of!  As I said before, I am not saying to not support believers, I am eating at Chick-Fil-A later today, August 1st, in support of them, as believers rally together to support one another as we should.

I mentioned before that I am often guilty of the Christian bubble mentality...He is slowly and steadily moving me out of it.  When we have a Christian bubble mentality, we are often saying the words, "I'll never...I would never..."  Be careful, many, if not most of the the "nevers" I have said the Lord has given me the opportunity to be tested in, some, by the grace of God I have passed, but many I have failed and had to retest.  He does not demand perfection, but humility and progress.

There is a story found in Luke 18:10-14 about the prayers of two men: the Publican and the Pharisee.  One approached God, thanking Him that he wasn't too bad of a guy; the other, unable to even look up, beat his chest and begged God for forgiveness for such a sinner as himself...which one are you?  I am too often looking at this fallen world, those unbelieving leaders, and thanking God I am not like them, rather than reflecting on how far from perfect I am, and begging the Lord to not give up on me, but to continue testing me - using me.

I pray the Lord spoke to you through this post, and that each word was accepted with the humility it was written in.  Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.  Have a blessed day!

I've Been Published - Telling about How Real God is

I am very excited to announce that I have 'officially' been published!  :-)  Although it is merely on ezinearticles.com, someone had to say 'yes', and they did!  God's mercy never fails to amaze me!  I pray you read the article and are encouraged as I share a small bit of God's recent movement within life!  Have a blessed day!

Read Jennifer's newly published article "How to Know God is Real"

I pray you are blessed today,

Refreshing Look..

Behold, all things become new....a refreshing look at the recent past - how good is our God?

(Feb 2012) - I am currently studying the Book of James via Beth Moore, this last week she encouraged 'me' to look on my life and evaluate any times in my life when joy and anguish resided in my heart at the same time... Or when the source of my anguish turned into joy?

My mind has been so overly filled lately with praise for all of those times-those situations He allowed me to go through. I finally see the Bigger picture as James says:

Count it ALL joy when you endure trials of any kind
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
Let endurance have it's perfect work making you MATURE and
COMPLETE lacking NOTHING.
James 1:2-3

He isn't saying we will literally BE perfect, He is allowing the PERFECT situations infiltrate our lives to make us who He desires us to be...so He can use us in more ways.

Read James 1 today and see what He reveals to you. Have a blessed day!

Friday's Fripp-Flop Blog Hop

We need to laugh in and AT life from time to time. So, beginning today, I am going to do a weekly Blog Hop intended to help make you smile!

After all, laughter does the heart good like a medicine, and if we can't laugh at the world around us, we are going to be pretty miserable!

To follow along and add your own Fripp-Flop story, click the link above! I can't wait to read all the funny stories!

My Fripp-Flop story today is from our most recent trip to Illinois for the Hearts at Home Conference:

My sweet 'Spiritual Mom' watched my three youngest boys so I could go, and the evening before I finished my drive to Bloomington, some friends from the church there stopped by to see us. My friend, Amber, was playing with the boys (4, 3 and almost 2 yr olds); of course, they were all over the floor rough-housing. At one point, Amber said, "Whew! I am pooped!" Then Coy, my three-year old piped up and said (rather sarcastically) "Then go POTTY!" I have not laughed that hard in a long time! I pray you join in as we share our stories and laughter with one another...remember, keep it 'clean' and have a blessed day!

Coming Friday!

Hey!  This Friday  I will be introducing something new on my blog!  It will be called:

FRIDAY'S FRIPP-FLOP BLOG HOP!

I have to give credit to my husband's cousin-in-law, Wende, for the name.  She has been trying to encourage me to write a book called 'Fripp's Flops', since we have such a large family, and so many funny things happen all the time!  This is the beginning stages, thanks, Wende!

I will be sharing a humorous story/event from our family (most likely something funny one of the boys have done!)  And, with it being a blog hop, I will be encouraging you, if you have a blog, to write a funny story from your family or just something you have heard, so we can all end our weeks/begin our weekends on a good note!

God's word has a lot to say about laughter, and even more to say about fellowship - we live in a cyber-world, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't interact with one another!  I hope and pray you start thinking now for what story you may be able to share with all our readers!  I can't wait to read them!

Until then, have a BLESSED day!

Is Your Window Cracked?

Oh, goodness!  This post was started back in 2010 while I was working on my Bachelor's of Business Finance...oh how I remember the evening like it was yesterday!

I had been working diligently on a paper (much like today).  The kids were outside playing in the back yard, and we didn't have a fence up yet, so while I worked in the office, I had the window open, ensuring I could count voices of my then 5 children playing back there (the sixth one was not old enough to play in the back, I'm sure he was sleeping in my room!)  So, life went on that day, everyone came in, ate supper, took baths, and got nestled into bed...except me.  I returned to the office so I could put the finishing touches on my paper.

I began to notice that little crawly and flying bugs were all over everything!  I was not simply grossed-out, I was frustrated!  I kept thinking, what is wrong with this house that all these bugs are in here!  I mean, sure they are little, but they are nasty!  I couldn't concentrate, I literally felt like they were crawling all over me, in my hair, up my legs, on  my arms, on my back.  I was itching and flinging at my hair too much to even pay attention to the task at hand!

So, I gave up, threw up my hands and went to take a shower and go to bed.  The next morning, I crept into the office to see what may have become of it overnight.  There were dead night bugs all over the place!
Then, I felt a slight breeze...I had left the window cracked...oops.

God spoke gently to me that morning, because I had zoomed through the morning, not stopping to speak to Him.  He said to me, "See what waits at the window for you when you accidentally leave it cracked?"  Frustration, aggravation, and ultimately death.  Things that don't matter in the eternal scope of life.

When I leave my heart cracked open for anything other than the things of God, that is what I receive.

But when I start my day off with Him, seek Him through my day, and rely on Him for all the day will hold, He seals any cracks.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.
Fix your thoughts on what is
true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8

I pray this encouraged you today, and maybe made you laugh a little.  When is the last time you left a window cracked?  :-)  Have a blessed day!

Have You Ever?

Last night, the Lord took me back a few years ago when I had the undeserved privilege to walk along side a sister in Christ and help her clear out her husbands closet - just a couple weeks after burying him.

In the midst of her heart ache and pain, my heart was begging God to tell me the answer to her 'Why' questions so I could help alleviate some of her pain.  We all know how that turned out, though.  The only answers He provided to me to pass to her was, 'Trust Him, draw close to Him, allow Him to comfort you.'

Have you ever been called to comfort a friend in such dire circumstances?  The loss of a child, the dissolve of a marriage, the loss of a job, the terrible heart ache of betrayal from a close friend...

It is so important that we, as trusted companions in Christ, do NOT lean on our own understanding of these times, but our actions and our words point to the One who HAS all the answers.  I know He doesn't always share the answers with us right away, but He gives what is needed for the moment.  I pray you are walking closely with Him today.  Have a blessed day,

Pondering On...

What Scripture are You currently pondering on?

For me, James Chapter 1 has been what I have been reading nightly.  Most likely because I am working through Beth Moore's study on James.  What marvelous and hard-hitting words are there!  I want to leave you with a few of the power-packed words that have resonnated wtihin my spirit over the past few weeks, and yet He is still using them to teach me daily.

 James 1:19-25
"This you already know, my loved brothers and sisters.
Everyone must be
quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
for the anger of aman does not achieve the righteousness of God.
Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness,
in humiility receive the word implanted,
which is able to save your souls.
But prove yourselves doers of the word,
and not merely hearers who fool themselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer,
he is like aman who looks at his natural face in a mirror;
for once he has looked at himself and gone away,
he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
But one who looks intently at the perfect law,
the law of liberty and abides by it,
not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer,
this man will be blessed in what he does."

I challenge you to chew on these verses for a few days....I am still chewing!!!  Have a very blessed day!

Superhero Dreams...

You Mean I am NOT One Already?!

Welcome to Hearts at Home's Third-Thursday Blog Hop!  You have entered NTense Focus, where God has laid on my heart to do my part in showing this world that there is but One God...He's available 24/7...He is the Answer to every problem imaginable...and He is the Giver of all things Good!

I will be breaking off a bit today, however, to incorporate my love for my Savior with today's Blog Hop Topic:

If I could have a superhero power for my 'motherhood' duties...what would it be?
Well, to be quite frank, I often think of myself as

 'Super-Mom'

- able to take down any quarrels that may threaten the happiness of my family
- ready and fully equipped to handle all sicknesses that come my way
- godly enough that none of my kids will ever stray because they had a great example
- energetic enough to endure 5 out of my 6 children playing ball related sports at one time
- smart enough to make sure my kids do well in school - surpassing all others
- organized enough to add spontaneously planned gatherings at my house
- pretty enough that other moms look at me and wonder - how does she do it all...
AND STILL LOOK SO GOOD!?

Then I wake up

I am none of those things above...I may bare a slight resemblance from time to time, but that, my friend, is ONLY by God's grace! In reality, I am just barely scratching the surface of any one of those things! (Especially looking good...did I forget to put make-up on!?) Ha!

When the movie The Incredible's came out, I was awestruck!  The producers, in my humble opinion, did a marvelous job in 'labeling' each person within the family; I thought there for awhile that they had taken notes on my family prior to making the movie!  Let's break-down the character list real quick...

Bob Parr "Mr. Incredible" - In his youth, he was an all-star, helping people, creating a better community for all concerned.  Then, when the government took away his pride and contribution...his gift, he became down-trodden with purposelessness.  A terrible place to be.  He wanted to so badly to have a purpose that he resorted to hiding his good deeds, and being perceived as selfish!  Then, when someone truly needed him, he jumped at the opportunity, he had purpose back..this effected his health, his mood, his...romantic life, his relationships, everything about him seemed improved.  But, alas, he still held a secret, which ended up putting his family in danger, and his wife and children had to come assist him in saving the day.

Helen Parr "Elasti-Girl" - This woman has a gift we all have to some degree...she stretches so far, you are almost certain she will break, then she regroups...pulling herself all back together!  I will never forget shortly after watching this movie, I was reaching in the back seat to help my third child find her paci, and my son exclaimed, "Mommy, you are Elasti-Girl"!  How true is that, though!  We stretch physically, yes, but emotionally, relationally, and in any other potential way!

Violet - She is the typical teenage young lady...moody with raging hormones, butting her will against that of her superiors, striving to find herself in the midst of the world around her, while at the same time, trying to hide herself from the world as well.  When she begins to figure out who she is from within, how much of an asset she is to those around her, she emerges from the shell she placed herself within, ready for the next challenge, because she now has confidence that she can face it.

Dash - If you have seen this movie, the name certainly says it all!  What 6-10 year old boy does this name NOT fit!?  He dashes from place to place...seeking adventure OUT!  When he find true adventure, he can't seem to get enough.  He is amazed to see and embrace the true identities of his family - that they are no longer trying to suppress.

Jack-Jack -  The darling, dear baby that apparently has no powers, until one day (while the family is away and he has a baby sitter) he becomes a 'Little Monster'!  Hmmm, once again, this sounds vaguely familiar to me!  He fumes with fire one minute, then is stubborn as a lead weight the next!  Again, I say, a familiar scene!

The reality is, when we know and trust God - in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Friend - we do have superpowers!  Our weaknesses are His strengths, He is strong FOR US!  What a blessed place to be!

I pray you have encouraged by this comparison!  Feel free to come back and visit sometime, I would love if it if you decided to follow my blog!  I am not as consistent in writing as I would like; therefore, I will not promise to have a blog a day, week, or even one a month.  But this I WILL promise; when God lays something on my heart to say whether a couple words or a couple hundred words, I will do what He calls me to do!

 Have a blessed day!
